What it does

Mineral filters stay on the surface of the skin rather than being taken up into it, and that is usually why they suit people who react to chemical filters. Their classic downside is the white cast, and the tint here is what cancels it. That makes this the option if other sunscreens have stung your eyes or turned your face red, but you still refuse to walk around looking pale. A tint is a single colour though, so it works on a range of skin tones and not on all of them.

What it will not do

One tint cannot match every skin tone, so check it in daylight before buying a large bottle. Heavier feel than the fluid sunscreens on this list.

How to use it

Every morning, last step. Mineral formulas need slightly more rubbing in than chemical ones. Do not skip the neck and ears.

Key ingredients

Titanium dioxide and iron oxides. Titanium dioxide protects mainly by absorbing UV rather than reflecting it, which is the opposite of the usual explanation. The iron oxides provide the tint and also absorb some visible light.
